Mark your calenders for August 4th, 2001 when we all converge on Cincinnati Ohio for a picnic to end all picnics!

Summary:


The family reunion occurs all week from July 30th until August 5th. Everyone is invited to participate in any or all of the events.
The big event is the August 4th picnic will be at Woodland Mound Park. We have reserved the Fox Ridge shelter from 10 am until dark.

There will be more newsletters outlining family activities during the week. What can you look forward to? Hiking, Frisbee Golf, Water Park, Cincinnati Zoo, Kings Island, getting to know one another all over again, lively discussions, biking, reading, eating, botanical gardens, art museum, photography, water rockets, airplanes, kids' activities and more.

Reservations need to be made as soon as possible! John, Fran, Clint and Liz Passerotti are staying at Motel 6. Michael, Gini, Andew and Jolynn Blackwell along with George, Susi, Emma and Genelle Stone will be staying at East Fork Lake State Park. They mentioned their preference for the swimming. Camping Opportunities in the Cincinnati area near the picnic grounds:

East Fork State Park

East Fork has one of the largest camping areas in the state with 416 sites. The campground offers electrical hookups, showers, drinking water, camper's beach, flush toilets and boat ramps. Pets are permitted in designated areas. A 17-site horsemen's camp is available as well. Six Rent-A-Camp units consisting of a tent, dining fly, cooler, cook stove and other equipment can be rented during the summer months. Six Rent-A-RV units are also available.

East Fork Park includes:

  • Winton Woods Campground
    Winton Woods Campground, set in a pine grove alongside Winton Woods Lake, is perfectly suitable for either an overnight stop or final vacation destination. There is a total of 100 sites, ten of these sites include water, sewer and 50 amp electric hookups. In addition, there are 80 sites with 30 amp electric hookups and 10 camping cabin sites. Perfect for first-time campers and families, the camping cabins are simple, rustic sleeping cabins with bed space for five people. All sites at Winton Woods Campground feature a picnic table and fire ring and conveniences such as a heated shower building, sanitary dump station, laundry room, playground and camp store are all available.
    Winton Woods Campground accepts advance reservations beginning February 26 for the 2001 camping season. The camping cabin sites require a two-night minimum stay on weekends and all sites have a 14 day stay limit. A three-night stay is required on holidays.

    The Hamilton County Park District’s newest campground, Steamboat Bend, is conveniently located in Woodland Mound at the intersection of Route 52 and Nine Mile Rd. and features 52 tree-lined campsites, many with a spectacular view of the Ohio River. Each site features water and 30 amp electric hookups, picnic table and fire ring. There is also a sanitary dump station located within the campground.
    Camping at Steamboat Bend is permitted only for self-contained trailers or recreational vehicles with advance reservations. Rentals are available on a monthly basis and a limited number of campsites are offered on a weekly basis. Nightly rentals are not available.
